The Word to Hear First on an Anxious Morning | Psalm 143:8

Some mornings begin with anxiety before our feet even touch the floor. The mind races through unfinished work, uncertain news, family concerns, and problems that have not happened yet. Psalm 143:8 offers a different first sound for the day: a request to hear of God's faithful love in the morning.

David did not write every prayer from a place of comfort. He often prayed while tired, threatened, or unsure of the road ahead. Yet he asked God to make the way known because his trust was placed in God. Faith here is not pretending that the pressure is gone. It is choosing which voice will lead us while the pressure is still present.

Try a simple morning practice. Before opening messages or news, take one slow breath. Name the worry that feels heaviest. Then pray, “God, let Your faithful love speak louder than my fear, and show me the next faithful step.” You do not need the entire map to walk wisely today. You need enough light for the step in front of you.

Reflection for Today

Anxiety does not have to disappear before faith can begin. Faith begins when we bring our anxiety into God's presence and choose to be guided by faithful love. What is one small, honest action you can take today instead of trying to solve everything at once?
